Hi, welcome to my AS Media studies website based around my portfolio. For my final piece I will be working in a team of four including Kadie Williams , Annika Chander, Thomas Smith and myself (Eloise Mclean). our two minute film opening will be based in the horror genre of film.
A film is - or should be - more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what's behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.- Stanley Kubrick
What is the purpose of the preliminary task?
To show that we understand continuity editing in short clips and hot it affects the results. Its to help us understand the basic rules of match on match, 180 degree rule and eye-line match and how to use them properly.
What difficulties did you face?
we had difficulties putting the shots together and have the right shots too. The difficulties of the shots being put together was when we were putting them into the sequence when editing the different shots. The conversation shots had to be redone because one shot did match to the rules but it didn't flow with the other shots.
How did you plan out the shots?
We spoke about how we wanted them done and where we was going to shot the shots. We also tuck the shots more than once so we could see which one was better and to see if we made any mistakes that need to be corrected.
What did you learn about continuity editing?
All the shots have to flow smoothly for the sequence to work properly, and without the audience thinking it was not thought about when it was being edited.
what did you learn about the demands of filming a sequence?
You have to plan the shots on a storyboard to make sure there are no mistakes when filming the first set of shots. It also helps to get the shots correct the first time so you can spend more time editing the sequence.
